# Analytics

## Google Analytics for Mobile App

The **Google Analytics** section helps you understand how customers interact with your mobile app and how much business the app generates.

It combines **Google Analytics traffic and customer activity with your store's sales data**, allowing you to track sessions, purchases, revenue, conversion rates, product performance, and more.

For example, if your app receives **950 sessions** and generates **18 orders worth $54,344.35**, you can use the Analytics dashboard to understand how customers reached your app, what they viewed, and which products generated sales.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FFMDbMXWOO0HchUJPTjSX%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=722aae9c-1130-4761-a536-54c096c2e937" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### What Analytics Shows

#### <mark style="color:$primary;">Growth Score</mark>

The **Growth Score** provides an overall view of your app's performance based on multiple metrics.

For example, a score of **93/100** indicates that the tracked performance metrics are generally strong, while the individual sections help you identify where improvement may be possible.

It includes:

* **Acquisition** – Measures how much traffic your app receives and how that traffic changes over time.\
  *Example: If your sessions increase from 500 to 800, your app is attracting more visitors.*
* **Engagement** – Shows how actively users interact with your app.\
  *Example: If customers view several pages during a session instead of leaving after one page, engagement is higher.*
* **Conversion Rate** – Measures how many users complete a desired action, such as making a purchase.\
  *Example: If 100 users visit your app and 10 place an order, the conversion rate is 10%.*
* **Retention** – Shows how many customers return to use your app again.\
  *Example: If customers who purchased last week return this week to shop again, they contribute to your returning-user rate.*
* **Revenue** – Shows sales revenue generated through your app.\
  *Example: If customers place 18 orders worth $54,344.35 through the app, that revenue is reflected here.*
* **App Health** – Provides performance indicators related to your mobile app's traffic and conversion activity.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2F9gWchts9PiVJeaHmIiJ8%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=7ef45f31-0c3d-498d-92d2-fd629b03a53f" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Overview</mark>

The **Overview** section provides a quick summary of your app's performance.

It includes:

* **Sessions** – The number of times users opened or interacted with your app.\
  *Example: 950 sessions means your app recorded 950 sessions during the selected period.*
* **Conversions** – The number of tracked conversion events.\
  *Example: If users complete purchase-related actions, those events can contribute to conversions.*
* **Orders** – The number of orders generated through the app.\
  *Example: 18 orders means 18 Shopify orders were attributed to the mobile app.*
* **Revenue** – The total Shopify revenue attributed to the app.\
  *Example: $54,344.35 means this amount of revenue was generated from app-attributed orders.*
* **Abandoned Checkouts** – Checkouts that customers started but did not complete.\
  *Example: If 10 customers begin checkout but only 7 complete their purchases, the remaining 3 are abandoned checkouts.*

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FcQ38Dzt3F6RqE3OLy5qT%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=7a135680-14ca-4592-8c96-a639cced40fd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Sales by Channel</mark>

This section shows how much sales revenue comes from your **Mobile App Channel**.

**Example:**\
If the dashboard shows:

**Mobile App Channel — $54,344.35 — 18 orders**

this means 18 orders attributed to the mobile app generated $54,344.35 in revenue.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FZxJertPY1MUR2e0Z232L%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=ca4c7b37-883b-48c7-b782-500aad51dd3f" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Recommended Actions & Opportunities</mark>

The Analytics dashboard can identify areas that may require attention.

For example:

**Purchases spiked:**\
If purchases increased from 11 in the previous period to 25 in the current period, the dashboard can highlight this increase. You can then investigate whether a promotion, campaign, or push notification contributed to the increase.

**App version underperforming:**\
If one app version has a significantly lower conversion rate than the overall app average, this may indicate that customers using that version are experiencing an issue. You can investigate the version and encourage affected users to update the app.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FQeHmsuNUAJDxDBBidAYc%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=48616021-a7c2-4861-aab0-b0097649146f" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Opportunities</mark>

The **Opportunities** section highlights important trends or potential issues found in your app analytics.

* **Purchases Spiked:** Shows significant increases in purchases compared with the previous period and suggests investigating successful campaigns or promotions.
* **App Version Underperforming:** Identifies app versions with lower conversion rates than the overall average, helping you spot potential bugs, checkout issues, or update requirements.
* **Confidence Level:** Indicates how strongly the system identifies each opportunity.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2F7RHK0KQPTLZVX4AuUuyS%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=88a32cc7-0cda-4630-85db-d9964ab90f43" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Purchase Funnel</mark>

The **Purchase Funnel** shows the customer journey:

**Product View → Add to Cart → Begin Checkout → Purchase**

For example:

* 1,000 customers view products
* 200 add products to their cart
* 50 begin checkout
* 40 complete their purchase

This helps you identify where customers are dropping off during the purchasing process.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2Flnh77bTChcfSSUsNTzn4%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=0dd4752a-2b34-4591-aceb-65e5d85f4653" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Traffic Trends</mark>

The **Traffic Trends** section shows how your app traffic changes over time.

You can compare:

* **Active Users** – Users actively interacting with the app
* **Sessions** – App sessions recorded during the selected period

**Example:**\
If sessions increase significantly after sending a promotional push notification, you can compare the traffic trend with the campaign timing.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FmCxfNmx6yYMzg8GWIZ91%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=bea84ff5-3b74-47f2-b49f-e53b0156c337" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Traffic Sources</mark>

This section shows where your app traffic originates.

Examples may include:

* Direct
* Google
* Google Play
* Other available sources

**Example:**\
If Google generates 100 sessions and Direct generates 500 sessions, you can see which sources are bringing users to your app.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2Fu2K9A16i4Lat10zP5EX4%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=849e97d8-53aa-46cc-b2f8-9de4cd4f0fc2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Device Breakdown</mark>

This section shows the types of devices customers use to access your app.

For example:

* **Mobile**

This can help you understand the devices used by your customers.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2F6YLV6UmmIQjkkmsAHTo3%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=0a3fec26-8b0b-4a10-ab24-8820de2a3484" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">App vs. Web</mark>

The **App vs. Web** section allows you to compare available performance data between your mobile app and website.

Metrics can include:

* Sessions
* Active users
* Conversion rate
* Orders
* Revenue
* Average Order Value (AOV)

**Example:**\
If your app has 18 orders with $54,344.35 in revenue, you can compare those figures with your website's performance to understand how each channel contributes to sales.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FKjBjEDuXrqMtVm5jRTvP%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=14e81f61-7286-459d-8a6d-8ff98d1414ec" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Top Pages</mark>

The **Top Pages** section shows which pages receive the most views.

**Example:**\
If your product page receives 1,500 views while your About Us page receives 200 views, you can see which pages are attracting more customer attention.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FX2Rvw2l7Cp1Pf4dKZ4TP%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=1bcf7216-d468-464e-8dc5-aebe98023b91" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Product Intelligence</mark>

Product Intelligence provides performance information for individual products.

It can include:

* **Views**
* **Cart Adds**
* **Purchases**
* **Revenue**

**Example:**\
If a product has:

* 500 views
* 50 cart additions
* 12 purchases
* $2,400 revenue

you can use this information to understand how that product performs within the app.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FJTj2I0o2uIoHDoSK96gD%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=cc834f3b-475e-4d2b-a168-6377621e83fd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Search Intelligence</mark>

Search Intelligence helps you understand what customers are searching for inside your app.

It can show:

#### Top Searches

The terms customers search for most frequently.

**Example:**\
If **“cake mould”** is one of your most searched terms, it indicates strong customer interest in that product category.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FtSvslOoSLfP1Mt4fhrZy%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=39070ac3-88a3-451a-b120-ae2b022931bd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Zero-Result Searches

Search terms that do not return any matching products.

**Example:**\
If customers frequently search for **“red cake box”** but no products appear, you may consider adding the relevant product or improving your product/catalog data.

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Campaign & Push Attribution</mark>

This section helps you understand the traffic and conversions associated with campaigns and push notifications.

It can display:

* **Sessions**
* **Conversions**
* **Revenue**

**Example:**\
If you send a push notification for a **“Fondant Moulds”** promotion and users subsequently visit the app, those campaign-related sessions and conversions can be shown here when attribution data is available.

This helps you understand whether your campaigns are driving customer activity and purchases.

<figure><img src="https://922942541-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIGRcMuVZCEGNibOl1OmW%2Fuploads%2FBjNG4DYh8KqNVC7t503H%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=7903492b-3a20-48bf-91b9-c67d0c43ed3c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
